Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
"Adore the Word present on the altar, born as a little Child for you." (St. Peter Julian Eymard). Do you have your special time set aside for Jesus yet? We have several hours where committed adorers are needed: These hours currently do not have an adorer in them: Sunday at 9PM, Monday at 1PM, Wednesday at 9AM and Friday at 1PM. Additional adorers are needed for these times: Monday at 10AM and 12PM, Tuesday at 11AM and Friday at 3PM. We hope you will consider making the sacrifice of ONE HOUR A WEEK to be with Jesus. For more information, please contact Bill & Barbara Souder
Ecumenical Bible Study
Did you know that Our Lady of Lourdes has a bible study that meets every Tuesday at 9:30 AM and has been doing this for 20 years? Anna McCance leads the Bible Study along with a small, but steadfast group of those wanting to worship the Lord through study of the holy scripture.
Asked about the longevity of this study, Anna says, “we have members from numerous faiths as well as OLOL members attending. We have formed friendships that have strengthened over the years as we share our faith, learn about God’s word, and support each other. It’s truly a rewarding experience and a blessing to have the opportunity to learn with friends.
What’s more is that over 20 years Anna estimates that they have covered the entire Bible two times. “We’re in our third round of the Bible and welcome anyone who wants to come and share with us.” If you are interested in joining the OLOL Ecumenical Bible Study call Anna at 860-464-6758.
If you like to knit or crochet why not join the Prayer Shawl Ministry on Thursday, 1/18 at 6:30PM in the Rectory meeting room? New members are always welcome! Don't forget to complete a Prayer Shawl request form if you know of someone in need. Just drop it in the box location outside of the Adoration Chapel. For more information on this ministry, please contact Barbara Souder
A Bereavement Support Group meets at 6:30PM the first and third Tuesday of the month in Our Lady of Lourdes Rectory Meeting Room. January 16th. The Support Group is a small group voluntarily sharing their experiences in going through bereavement and discussing helpful spiritual guidance.
“HOW TO HELP OURSELVES THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS”
- Family get-togethers may be extremely difficult. Be honest with each other about your feelings. Decide with your family what you want to do.
- There is no right or wrong way to handle the holiday. Some may wish to follow family traditions, while others may wish to change.
- Keep in mind the feelings of your children and family members. Try to make the Holiday Season as joyous as possible for them.
- Set limitations, realize that it isn’t going to be easy. Do the things that are the most special to you. Do the best that you can.
- Once you made the decision on the role you and your family will play during the Holiday, let others know
- After the first year, people may expect you to be “over it”. We are never “over it”, but the experience of many bereaved is that eventually they enjoy the Holidays again.
The above are summary headings from a paper with the same title provided by the Norwich Diocese of Faith Events. It can be found in the Chapel and Church Foyer in the Bereavement Support Group Container.
